Hotel overview

Located high in the Girona mountains, Estació de muntanya Vall de Núria offers a balanced mix of winter sports and outdoor recreation tailored especially for families and beginners. The resort is nestled in a scenic valley surrounded by peaks reaching nearly 3,000 meters, anchored by a central lake that adds charm year-round.

A unique way to reach the destination is via the Cremallera rack railway from Queralbs, winding through dramatic gorges and forested slopes. Once there, visitors can enjoy skiing on gentle slopes, guided hiking trails that are well marked yet peaceful, and a variety of family-friendly activities including pony rides and children's amusements.

Dining options include on-site restaurants and bars offering Western-style buffet meals, though vegetarians will find more limited variety. While beginner-friendly, some ski equipment rentals and lessons are available onsite, making it easy to get started. Accessibility features such as wheelchair accessible entrances and restrooms ensure a wider range of travelers can enjoy the stay. Free parking and various payment methods add convenience.

Despite its picturesque setting and friendly atmosphere, travelers should budget accordingly, as ride tickets and some activities are considered pricey. The resort’s calm, family-focused vibe is complemented by well-maintained facilities and attentive staff known for their patient service.

“An amazing hiking region, with plenty to see and do. The hikes were great, not too busy, and very well marked. The people were very friendly, and the village had great little restaurant/cafe/self serve. Catch the train for a great experience of hike up from Quelrabs. We enjoyed a great day hiking, and would definitely do it again!”

“L’estació de muntanya de Vall de Núria is, by most accounts, a rather charming affair—earning a solid 8.2/10 and quietly positioning itself as a haven for families and first-time skiers who prefer encouragement over intimidation. The setting does much of the heavy lifting. Encircled by peaks brushing the 3,000-metre mark, with a lake sitting neatly at the centre, the whole place feels almost improbably picturesque. One arrives, more often than not, by the Cremallera railway—a journey that is less transport and more gentle prelude, winding through gorges with views that justify the fare before you’ve even clipped into skis. On the ground, the atmosphere is refreshingly kind. Staff are frequently praised for their patience—particularly with children taking their first tentative slides downhill. Facilities lean toward the beginner end of the spectrum: safe, manageable slopes, and a variety of family-friendly activities, from pony rides in summer to the endearingly named “Cau de la Marmota.” That said, charm does come at a price. The railway, along with certain activities, can feel rather dear, and while the hotel buffet is generally well regarded, casual dining options are occasionally described as underwhelming for the cost. Beginner snowboarders may also find the drag lifts a touch… character-building. A few logistical grumbles appear too—namely around refunds for online bookings. In short: scenic, gentle, and thoughtfully geared toward families—best enjoyed with modest expectations, a patient mindset, and perhaps a slightly forgiving wallet.”

“I traveled from Barcelona by train, very easy and convenient, the place is breathing taken, the landscape is stunning, not so organised to skiing. Worth the day.”

“Val de Nuria - as we went there, I was disappointed that it was only a valley, the wish was to visit the Mountains, higher than before last time with 2001mtr. From Queralbs we take the train to go there, it takes 30min to go to the valley on 2800m high. Futhermore you can go and we did it to take the lift to get on the top of the col and take a walk through the nature. This all within the wildlife animals marmots we saw and getting a high feeling staying above the world of nature it was wonderful/awesome. The cost of the tickets for that ride are really high, nevertheless we all should save this nature!”

“We had previously skied here over 20 years ago. This time, we decided just to catch the train up and then the gondola. The snow conditions did, however, look very good. We had lunch up the mountain, a walk around one side of the frozen lake.”

“The best place to stay and visit the Vall de Nuria ski resort . We went just at the beginning of winter which is perfect , to see bit of sun and bit of cloudy weather. Hotel rooms were neat , clean and nicely maintained. We asked for the lake view and the second floor with lake view was perfect one Best in the place . Being vegetarian I am writing my thoughts for food , but it could be better for meat / non veg eaters . For vegetarians , they have limited dine in options , they have two hotel restaurant / cafe bar option . In the hotel restaurant- dining is buffet and fixed price , so you can’t really think of customising . We took breakfast inclusive , which I must say was good . They have western breakfast options which is best . There is a huge in-house shopping options with Vall de Nuria souvenirs… I must say - a good place . They are only open until 4 . The staff of hotel were very nice , they were welcoming . They did speak English we started to talk in Spanish language but eventually talked in Spanish . Don’t forget to hike up the place to enjoy the sunset between mountains . Don’t forget to take the cable car up to the other side of mountain and enjoy the beauty of a place in spain :) Kudos to keep it so clean and best in the location they are :) Don’t forget to visit the church if you want some positive & good vibes Added few pictures below .”
